This policy explains what personal data we collect when you contact us or take out finance through us, why we use it, who we share it with and how long we keep it.

Who we are
Genesis Capital (Finance & Leasing) Ltd (company number 06903123), trading as Genesis Capital, is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are an independent finance broker based in London, arranging asset finance and vendor finance across the UK and Ireland.
You can reach us on 020 8255 5505 or by email at data@genesiscapital.co.uk.
The data we collect
- Contact details: your name, company name, email address and telephone number.
- Enquiry details: the type of enquiry you select and anything you tell us in the message field.
- Finance application data: business and financial information needed to assess a proposal, which may include trading history, accounts, bank details and, for sole traders and partnerships, personal credit information.
- Correspondence: notes of calls, emails and letters between us.
- Technical data: basic information your browser sends when you visit this website, such as IP address and pages viewed.
Why we use it and our legal basis
- To answer your enquiry and provide the broking service you asked for — necessary for a contract, or for steps taken before entering one.
- To source and arrange finance with lenders on our panel, including credit assessment — contract and legitimate interests.
- To meet our legal and regulatory duties, including Financial Conduct Authority rules, anti-money-laundering checks and record keeping — legal obligation.
- To manage, improve and secure our business and this website — legitimate interests.
- To send you information about our services where you have asked for it or where we may lawfully do so — consent or legitimate interests. You can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
To arrange finance we need to share your information with third parties. These may include:
- Lenders and funders on our panel considering your proposal.
- Credit reference and fraud prevention agencies. A search may leave a record and, for sole traders and partnerships, may affect your credit file.
- Introducers, suppliers or vendors connected to the transaction, where relevant.
- Our professional advisers, auditors and IT and hosting providers acting on our instructions.
- Regulators, law enforcement and other bodies where we are required to disclose information.
We do not sell your personal data.
Where your data is held
Our website and enquiry records are hosted on cloud infrastructure in the UK or European Economic Area. If any provider processes data outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to an agreement are normally kept for up to two years. Where finance is arranged, we keep records for the life of the agreement and then for at least six years afterwards to meet regulatory, tax and legal requirements.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate data corrected.
- Ask us to erase data where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
- Restrict or object to our use of your data, including for direct marketing.
- Ask us to transfer certain data to you or another provider.
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it.
To exercise any of these rights, email data@genesiscapital.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first — see our complaints procedure. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
